Chamois is a charming little ski resort located high above the Aosta Valley, on the way to Cervinia. The ski lifts in Chamois may be old and a little slow, but if that’s a problem, you’ve missed the point of visiting Chamois. Chamois is Italy’s only car-free village and is connected to the rest of the world by a cable car from Buisson. Three chairlifts take you from the village up to 1800 -2500m. The ski area is a large south-facing bowl, but from the top there’s also a legendary off-piste run down towards Valtournenche that you won’t want to miss.
